Well it's this time of the year, when we all say what our plans are for the new year (following on from this thread) :)

So what are your plans and/or goals for 2012?

    IT (cert and qualification) wise:

    1. Start my Post-Grad cert with the M889: Computer forensics and investigations

    2. Possibly do a Responding to computer misuse course (basic computer forensics)

    3. Possibly do one or two HP Certs

    4. Possibly gain my C&G's Graduateship in Management

2-4 are all possible's, it all depends on time and money...

    Outside work:

    1. Get back into karate and work towards my 2nd Degree black belt in Shotokan karate. Returned to karate about 2 months ago and last month injuried my wrist during sparring (don't worry I've made an appointment for next week, however if it's still playing up it'll be 5 weeks since I've had this injury :( )

    2. Lose at least 1 stone (14 pounds) and get back into shape (I've been told round is not a shape).

    1) Get a permanent job. Give up my part-time job.
    2) Pass some exams. Looking at 70-685, 290, 291, 686, ICND2 and whatever other bright, shiny cert attracts my magpie-like attention span. Nailing at least 3 would be keep me happy I reckon.
    3) Get a life. This one could be tricky.

    Goals 2012

    - Really need to get my CCNA Security by November as this is when my current CCNA expires.
    - Pass VMware 5 exam before 29/02/2012 so I can gain VCP status in 5 without having to go on a what's new course.
    - Possibly do the VMware Certified Advanced Professional Data Centre Design VCAP-DCD but I'm not yet 100% sure if I have the time to dedicate to this.

Oh good, looks like we may get a study guide on the CCNA:Sec from Craigie, hopefully to the same level as his previous ones!

Craigie, do you have a blog/webpage?

Defo, I only asked because you mentioned this possibility a while back!

Although its nice to have the info on CF, it would be nice to have the information formatted in a better way even just for clarity!

    New thread for this??

Have to get through this one too. Been reading the book on and off, but it's very dull, especially the SDM part.

Also, I've probably spent more time getting the SDM to work properly than actual lab time

So my goals for 2012: CCNA Security and a big chunk of the CCNP.

Hmmm been thinking about this for a while and not to sure what to look at next.

    My aims are something from:

    CCNA Security
    ITIL Foundation
    CCIP (or part of)
    CCDA/CCDP

Maybe also looking at a new job in the new year.

No Certs for me next year, purely concentrating on SCCM and SCCM infrastructure, maybe taking a look at SCOM.

Major one for me is rolling out SCCM 2012 to 90 sites, which is going to take a good few months alone

I haven't gained any Certs for 3 years, so I should probably do some of those. It will be tough though trying to achieve those alongside my degree. But it will keep me out of the pub, even if it doesn't keep me off my Xbox.

Not sure what technological certs to look at. We have a virtualisation push coming up, so something VMware-y maybe. Project Management almost definitely. Maybe some grounding in software testing. And possibly some SQL.

Still studying with the OU. Latin A397 at the moment, and U214 later in the year, and finishing those two will leave me 2 modules off an Honours degree in Modern Language Studies.

Personal? Keep being awesome, obviously :tune. Lose weight (what woman doesn't say this) and save enough money to move out of my parent's house and on to the property ladder.

Oh and I *still* haven't finished my novel.

    I don't think I set any goals for 2011 so I've had a successful year :)
Most likely would have been gain my MCSA which I did 6 days ago, and start 70-293, which I also did in the last couple of days.

    Goals for 2012
MCSE - 3 exams to go - (aiming for exam per 3.5 months)
possibly start an Exchange cert if time permits
New job - 3rd line possibility fell through so back to the board
    Build machine for ESXi

Non-work: lose serious weight! Still haven't shifted the weight I gained (on top of that I already had) during my time with a broken leg!
    Two sunny hot holidays!

Next year I will have a go at:

Upgrading my mcsa to SA including 70-680.
Hopefully once things are calm and stable look at obtaining a new situation after my current project is completed.
maybe have a squizz through VCAP-DCA possibly.....
also register for another OU course or two.
Attend as many vMugs as I can get away with :biggrin

Decided against following the MCSA route, so:

    1. Will complete MS client-side with 70-686 to gain MCITP: EDA
    2. Start on Server-side with TS:70-640
    3. Have a look at broadening into Cisco with CCENT

...time and money dependant, of course!
