    Update time...

My goals have completely changed in line with my job, which has taken a few twists and turns in the last 6 months resulting in working pretty much 9am - 8pm most weekdays and 9am - 5pm most Saturdays, aka very little time left to study!

So new goals and old goals mixed together form the following for the next 6-12 months...

    Career/Certs...

    • Pass 70-291 - In Progress
    • Pass 70-432 - New Goal, SQL ( Replaces 70-648 )
    • Pass 70-433 - New Goal, SQL ( Replaces 70-646 )
    • Gain 5k pay rise throughout the year - Done this one, good times.

    Personal...

    • Get a motorbike - Decided that saving for a house was more important and the car will suffice!
    • Continue saving / Investing - In Progress.. going well so far and have set high targets for the rest of the year so fingers crossed.

Bit late for this but the only goal this year is to get a real IT job. The rest is just gravy. :D

Time to resurrect this thread :) Update the update.

    1. I have been offered a permanent position as a Technical Admin. vmware, sans, red hat linux etc so something nice to get my teeth into.
    2. I passed ITIL v3F. Not going to progress with the forensics. I started working on 70-662 but might see what i need for my new job.
    3. A long weekend in New York coming up next month.
    4. Started house hunting.
    5. I graduate next month.
    6. Injury free finally and still playing.

I think I have more than exceeded my goals for the year so i am very happy. My goals for next year are hopefully going to be fewer and have a quieter year.

My priorities have shifted a bit and, as all our new platforms are running 2010/2008, I don't think there's much point in certifying in 2007/2003. I also missed the Vista exam (wrote the wrong date down), and was too late to rebook (although the lack of that cert is hardly going to destroy future job prospects).

So varied is my new role that pretty much every non-developer MCTS exam is now a 'WIP' :p

    So far I've done:

    MCDST
MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician 7
    MCTS: Active Directory 2008, Configuration

I'm also looking at going for a Salesforce certification some time in the not-so-distant future.

I see I never posted my goals for 2011 initially. They were:
Get a permanent, full-time job in IT
Pass MCTS 680 and one other

It didn't take me long to get a job in IT. My contract has been extended until the end of the year so I'm counting that as a win.
    I passed 680, 270, ITILv3F and CCENT. A definite win.

Goals for 2011 were to pass A+ and N+ and get a permanent position in IT.

Managed the above so for once I did good against my resolutions.

This year is not so easy, as they say; the real learning begins once you're in the profession...

    Goals for 2012.

    1. Fix my finances

    2. Pass 70-680

    3. Pass ITILv3F

    4. Get into shape (I get free gym membership afterall)

    5. If there is time and only if, then start towards Cisco certs depending on the above!

Keep the swimming - exercise going so im not such a fat git
Go to more (especially "The computers") gigs and be less stressed!

Well, so far i've managed to pass 70-270, giving me MCDST, plus i've done MCTS as well.

I've just got this new mainframe job, so my goals for the rest of this year have changed - learn new job / skills (Fujitsu Mainframe VME and SCL)

and as for the better eating and gym plan - well i've shed a lot of weight thanks to me buying a bike and cycling to / from work every day (it's 5 / 10 mins in car or 15 / 20 mins on bike - no-brainer really)

    and this
will be my main goal for the majority of next year as well i'd imagine

At the start of the year I was just happy to be working from university, I enjoyed the job and it paid very well for a first-line support role. I wanted to sit my A+, but took it quite casually.

By the July I started looking at other jobs, being at the same place for 3 years I wanted more of a challenge. It was finally at this time I bought my A+ book.

Come the end of August, I had a new job in London, and got married and moved home within the same 2 weeks.

Unfortunately since then I haven't read more than 9 chapters. It has been a busy few months and its only just started to settle down. Due to money I doubt I'd have the cash to sit the exam even if I crushed it out this year.

2012 will be a busy year, I just hope its because of certs and not anything else. 8)

    Well end of the year...

    Done.

    Pushed to 2012

Done, both the MCT and PTLLS.

Still have had enough of MS certs, and with my schedule didn't have time for the Apple cert.
