I am trying to create a list of a small gallery imbedded in html which would contain 8 images or so, but I wanted to create a link so you can navigate it so it changes to another 8 different images without having to reload the actual page.
I have no idea what the code is for it on javascipt :( Any help would be apperiated

    Try this link,

    http://www.usingjavascript.com/scripts/imageviewer.html

You'll find scripts for several viewers there. Maybe one will work or at least give you some ideas.

PHP is just a script language. You can use many others, but you would need to 'translate' the script.

Yes its possible with Ajax but there aren't many really good free scripts out there. A quick google brings some results http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=ajax+image+gallery&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

This one came up in the results as a pure css image gallery LINK but the images open in the same window spoiling it a little. I'm sure that could be changed so that they open into a fresh window or even add some extra script such as lightbox.

i have used thickbox which will allow you to do all the gallery features, navigate between pictures without reloading the page and it is free.
