On 4th December, I had a 6hr long interview (all sorts of tests!) for a "Customer Services Technical Advisor" position with IBM - it's basically a 1st-line support position, but it's a start. Plus it's not far to travel - only a bus-ride and short walk. They told me that I would be accepted depending on my references.

Today, they confirmed that I will be starting on 28th Jan.

I'm now going to tell everyone to reboot their PCs and reinstall Windows. And pass all the interesting problems to 2nd-line.

The 14B Arriva bus drops you off by the Suites Hotel and it's short walk from there. Alternatively you can get another bus which drops you off right outside Virgin - can't remember the number though.

I worked as a systems administrator for Telewest on a short term contract and it's a really friendly environment. Relaxed dress code etc...

Just steer clear of the canteen!

Lets see: showing us around the place; filling-in forms, testing a whole load of things eg technical knowledge, ability to tackle tasks (juggling!!), dealing with people in various circumstances, generally throwing the unexpected at us.

It all takes time. Plus there'll be 4 weeks training BEFORE we are allowed on the phones, so as BosonMichael said, they want to make sure they pick the right people.
