Formatting Windows Vista!

    Hi, iv just installed Windows Vista Ultimate for the first time and i noticed something, when you format it, it only takes maximum 10 secounds.. where as in XP it takes at least 20 minutes.. why is this? New Technology?? Someone explain please.

    Probably doing a quick format rather than a normal one. A quick format doesn't do anything but reset the file allocation table... a normal format will zero everything on the drive out.

    unfortunatley vista does not give you the option of choosing quick format or just a normal format...

    A quick format should do you just fine. If you wanted a full format, you could do that with a boot disk and the format command... or slave the disk to a working system and format it there.
