Formatting programs- they are all different!

    Can someone explain the difference in these utilities.
    I have a maxtor utility that is on a floppy that must write over the data because it takes 14 hours to wipe a 200GB drive.

    I have another maxtor utility (maxblast 4) that formats and partitions the same drive in about 20 seconds!

    Then you have the utility with XP that takes about 10 minutes. Can someone explain why these utilities are so different. Judging by the quickness of the maxblast utility it doesn't wipe nowt!

    Boycie,

    i use Powermax for all formatting. Its gr8. Try it.
    Low levels quicker than Maxblast.
    Best floppy disk iv got....

    Cheers Cat. How is the N+ going?
    I think I told you I bought Mike Myers All in one (already read David Groths) and have to say only on page 150 but very impressed. I would recommend it to you.
    For me, he has made learning concepts I thought I understood absolutely cyrstal. :D
