    Hey folks,

After applying for a job, i followed up about a week and a half later to confirm my application had been recieved, and also re state my interest in the position. I was told my application hadn't been recieved and duly re sent my CV.

It's now been just over a week and haven't heard anything else. Should i find out if the position has been filled or just wait? Not sure how i would word it since i have already sent a follow up?

    any advice greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

I'm finding that there is a delay of anything up to 6 weeks at the moment before being notified if unsuccessful due to the number of applicants.

Did you ask when the closing date was and by when you would hear if succesful ?

If not, remember to do so in the future and, in this instance perhaps give it a few more days before asking those questions

I think that you should follow it up. I wouldn't worry if they think your pestering them. Your keen and very interested in the job. Just mention that as one application was lost you just wanted to confirm they had received your application. Cheers, Jim

As your CV wasn't received initially, I'd chase it up, it can't hurt.

nonono. Fax first to confirm the email confirming receipt of the letter.

Then phone to confirm the fax....

If you really want to be daring, throw in a telegram somewhere in there.

I wasn't following up regarding the application, just when they expected to let candidates know one way or the other or if the position had been filled.

perhaps i'm being too impatient though, it just that my follow up turned into being an original application rather than getting anymore info!

All joking aside, it is usually a good idea to follow up... preferably using a method that you didn't use the first time. :)

Oh sorry my mistake. Yeah maybe you are getting impatient then ha ha. I'd put it to the back of my mind and go have a few beers and chill out. Whats Aberdeen like by the way, hoping to come up to Scotland in August. Jim
