I think the Register has lost its mind on this one but judge for yourself.

no way! that is too easy to fake. plus the "and are seen here in the split second before their X-Motor made the transdimensional leap to hyper light speed" makes it sound like a total joke.

[pulls factory gate closed on secret project, powers down Fusion reactor and Zero Point FTL drive...next USA Spy sat fly over is in 10 minutes] :biggrin

What? - nope we are a real quiet backwater here..Perth is just a backwater no spaceship engineers here - really trust me!

[sends memo to engineer - start flight testing at night, remember to fit the loadspeakers and make sure the pre-recorded helicopter noises are playing]

Actually it looks like a mob of Kangaroos are stuck under the tarp again...either that or a weather balloon...really trust me on this - would I B*LL***T to my geek mates here?

:x that no one would believe me on this truly...I'll just stick to "plausible denial"

    LOL

If I remember rightly Supa, Walter point is rather windy and makes an ideal place for kiting and hang gliding etc. It's also about 10 mins away from my home there.

Personally I reckon it's a black car parked next to the 'flying car', creating an effect of a shadow. But then maybe that's just boring.
