Sorry I haven't been around lately, but I've been fighting a nasty bug.

A week ago, my wife came down with a flu bug, but by Wednesday, she was back on her feet and feeling ok. That was the day when I started feeling the first "rumblings". I won't go into the symptoms because they are disgusting, but I felt I wasn't going to get it as bad (I could still go to work) as she did. Then Friday afternoon came and all that changed. I made it home...barely. I was too sick to go with my wife to pick up our son David from the airport (he got back to the US from Iraq last week).

Saturday, I thought was the upswing. I could eat normal foods and felt fine...in the morning. I felt progressively worse in the afternoon, cultimating with a massive "explusion" of gunk out "both ends" and then crawling off to bed. The real capper though, was that around midnight, my other son Michael started trotting off to the bathroom to puke on a regular schedule.

This morning, I'm feeling so-so and too timid to take changes. Just thought I'd let you all know why I'm MIA these days.

Illness sucks. Us humans are all too easily rendered completely useless by bugs and bacteria we can’t even see... must evolve better eyes! Hope you feel better soon.

Doing "ok" so far. I actually did some yard work, as long as I could, before my stomach cramps became too uncomfortable. Ate some apple sauce this morning and for "lunch", I boiled some potatoes, carrots, and onions, and ate a few of the veggies and drank the broth. So far so good, but I said that same thing yesterday, and still blew my guts out at 7 last night. We'll see. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers.

Hope you get feeling better. I've had two bouts with diarrhea in the last month and half that each lasted about a week and half. Both were so bad I didn't leave the house: couldn't leave the house for the duration. When the first stomach cramp would hit it was time to drop everything and literally run for the bathroom immediately, or it was just too late to make it. Fortunately that was the only symptom I had. I didn't get body aches, fever, etc.... Just the trots, but they were bad enough.

I hope you get better soon trip. I came down with a flew also. My buddy came to town from the army for a weekend and he was sick when he got in, which is probably why I caught the flu also.

My son, who is a Marine and has just returned from Iraq, called a little while ago. Apparently, my wife invited him and his fiancee' out to dinner with *us* tonight and he picked the Texas Roadhouse as the place he wants to eat. Gee...I hope I *am* feeling better. Ironically, he said he's been feeling a little poorly today. He hopes it's just the change of weather (he says it's a lot color here in Boise than in either Iraq or California). Of course, even though my wife feels better...maybe she passed the bug onto him on Friday.

Ok, I made it. I actually hate the Texas Roadhouse for two reasons...it's incredibly noisy and impossible to have a conversation and they play only country music over the loudspeakers (emphasis on "loud") and I can barely stand country music.

Ironically, David was feeling under the weather last night. He said it was probably the change in weather. It was only 71 degrees F in Boise yesterday for the high and it's hotter in both California and in Iraq. He barely touched his meal and said how tired he was (though, I imagine he'd been spending a few nights up late with his intended).

I ate about half my chicken and took the rest home with me, so my stomach must have been in better shape than his. I felt just a little nausea, but the chicken was quite greasy. Mashed potatoes were fair, though.

David's fiancee' Kim, is a huge country music fan, as is her family. David is mainly a "metal" fan (which I also can't stand) and my musical tastes run mainly "oldies rock and pop", jazz, and occasionally, clasical.

David and I did make our "father/son" date to see "Iron Man" and go out to dinner for Wednesday evening (woohoo!). I read David his first comic books, including the old "Iron Man" stories from "Tales of Suspense" printed back in the 1960s, so this'll be fun. He has his "mother/son" date with my wife for Sunday (Mother's Day) which is very good as well.

My lower gut still feels sore, but if I was able to tolerate last night, I must be getting better. Still don't feel 100%, so I won't push it by hitting the gym, but I'll probably "risk" a walk on the greenbelt over lunch and go down by the university. It'll be about 76 degrees F today, so perfect for being outside.

Good to you’re feeling better – and just in time from the sounds of it. Iron Man sounds like fun times (especially with your father/son connection with it). :)

I'm not out of the woods yet. All of the symptoms seem to have subsided...except for a couple that seem to indicate that I'm not eliminating bile (I won't explain the details, since they're gross). My wife recovered from the flu in 3 days and my son Michael felt well enough to go to school and work yesterday, so I'm the lone "holdout". Well, I feel good enough to go to work, but concerned as well. Keep the prayers coming.

Prayers still coming your way trip. Have you tried vicks vapor rub at night before you go to bed. It works wonders on joe when he gets like that. Just make sure you wash it off in the morning before you go outside.

It was the flu, not a cold, Mitzs.

Anyway, I had a "cleanse" today which pulled out some pretty nasty stuff from "back there". I do feel better. Not 100%, but getting there. I want to feel as good as possible so I can enjoy "Iron Man" with David tomorrow evening. He wants to go out for a drink afterwards, but I don't know if I want to try alcohol at this point. Guess I'll play it by ear.

Thanks again for the prayers, advice, and well wishes. On the mend.
