Can anyone explain why my flash drive automatically synchronizes with my windows media player . I have 2 drives and also an MP3 player, the MP3 player and the 256mb flash drive are no hassle what so ever and work great. Every time i put the 1 Gig flash drive in, it will start loading loads of songs on when i dont want it to.

is there an autorun.ini file in there? or is it all just your mp3's, and no other file..

i heard of some drives have autorun enabled, but never managed to see one (think it was Kingston).

edit: also sometimes, when you shove a mem pen/card in your comp, it asks what you want windows to do, could you remember whether you selected to play files (with WMP) and had the [x] ticked for always remember this setting or something like that.

Can anyone remember how you change that setting once you've selected it?

Can you not change it in: right click on flash drive/properties/autoplay? You can command it to do nothing at all from there

    Hi,

There is no default X to make the drive synch with media player etc. There is just the normal options but it doesn't include a tick box the perform that action everytime like the unrecognised file pop up your thinking of.

Is it possible you let media player search your PC for music when the pen drive was plugged in and it has added some tracks on the pen to the media library?

    Just a thought.

If ya on about disabling autorun, ya just rightclick the drive, goto properties, and use autoplay tab

    zxspectrum,

    Questions:
    1. What operating system are you using?
    2. Which version of Windows Media Player are you using?

By the way lads thanks for your time but there is an autoplay feature on it where you dot a radio button and select it to take no action.

They should be set fropm that as default i reckon.

    Thanks tho lads
