Well, I finally did it. I finally booked 70-290. I've been "studying" for that since 2005 and just kept putting off the exam for whatever reasons. I haven't really let myself study for anything new since I've been hoping to take it but let school, work and/or laziness get int the way. I figured that since it is the first exam I've taken since 70-210 that I should probably take advantage of the second shot promotion. I've been "meaning to schedule" the test for a good year now, so I just went yesterday afternoon and scheduled it. Now I HAVE to prep for it. Funny... that is the same way I had to take the NT 4.0 exams. If I don't feel the pressure, I don't study.

So, here's hoping. Once I'm done with that I'll be quickly getting my N+ and CCNA out of the way, because I've been putting both of those off as well, just not as long. :)

    Woo hoo!

In about an hour I'll be heading out for my first exam in about 8 years! This is where I find out if I am prepared for the exam. Thankfully I have the second shot in my back pocket "just in case", but I really hope I don't have to use it. :)

Ah you'll be OK. I didn't find 290 as hard as I thought. 291's a different matter but best of luck and if you pass be sure to tell us what study materials you used. Cheers, Jim

Woo hoo! Finished the test in under an hour and was a little nervous waiting for the results, but I ended up with a 964. I'm so pumpped! Questions weren't bad at all, but I have to say that of the simulations I got, some of the questions seemed rather vague. As in "did they throw that last phrase in to make me do all of this too?" type thing.

For study materials, not counting the awesome forums here, I read the Microsoft blue book, and then I had some Examforce CramMaster testing software that I won in a contest in the CertTimes (or something) a few years ago. The engine was decent, but what I liked is that it used the ExamCram and ExamPrep books for points of reference, so I guess you could say I used those books too, but in a minimal way. I looked at the Craigie guides, and I have to say that I am DEFINITELY using those for the 70-291. Mostly I went off of experience though, only needing to clear up some Perfmon stuff I felt weak on, Terminal Service which I never use (we are a Citrix shop), and WSUS (we use SMS). Thankfully one of my jobs here is backup admin because knowing disaster recovery paid off for sure!

Well, now on to my Network+, another exam I've been putting off for a while! I'm pretty geeked to go for the 70-291 though... I finally feel like I've stepped over the hurdle of laziness. LOL.
