Yep, unfortuantely with or without realising your government and mind have bowed down to terrorism (especially mine) and now no one is classed as an ordinary citizen were are all bad.

We already have cameras in street which can take a snap shot of your fac and specifically remember you and track your movements.

We are always from now on going to get tracked, the governments may come up with the excuse its for carbon emissions foot print or terrorism but its here and its only gonna get worse I fear.

As I'm neither a criminal nor a terrorist, I hope they get a pic of my good side. 8)

Protect the borders? People scurry into the US from Mexico with relative ease and frequency and having this database won't keep them from moving across the border. So we can have good jobs? I thought this was to keep terrorists out. Are terrorists out to take our jobs, too? As far as "illegal aliens" taking jobs, which seems to be what this part of the article is implying, those folks mostly take jobs that the rest of us wouldn't take unless we couldn't get any other work.
    Big brother has arrived.

And isn't that a reeeeally sensitive subject in an election year?!

Of course, it would help if the US had a functional (as opposed to paranoid) security system in place to start off with :hhhmmm

You don't care because the gov already has all your information from your time in the service. However I do care and I'm not a terrorist or a criminal either. Nobody bussiness what I am doing.:dry

Are you worried that they'll see your Santa Claus hat on your av in February? :p

The information they have on me doesn't likely come from my time in the service... I haven't been Active for 15 years, and haven't been Reserve for 12. The information they have on me is probably the same information they have on you. :) And I don't care if they know what I'm doing. If they knew, they'd likely be bored to tears.

I trust the federal government with my information about as far as I can pick up and throw Langley, VA. I'm pretty sure that I'm such a "non-threat" that nothing much will come of it, but I don't believe the government is automatically entitled to know everything there is about me just because they're the government. My father, who served in the Air Force for 20 years and then served another 20 as a civilian federal employee is of the same mindset, so it's not a matter of people who have served in the military vs. those who haven't.

I don't trust them with it either. But I don't stay up late worrying about it because they likely have every piece of information of any importance anyway.

You and Mitzs are right: it is none of their business. But it really doesn't affect me much.

If they already have every piece of information of importance, then why waste the time and tax dollars implementing a system that may or may not help thwart future terrorism?

To give the appearance that they're actually doing something important and useful... when they could spend that money keeping people out of the country who shouldn't belong.

I wholeheartedly agree, there is no need for the government to have statistics on how many dumps I take in a day and what time I do it at but thats what they want. They use the terrorism excuse so they can keep an eye and everything we do and its not for our saftey or security.

At least in the UK it isn't its so they can tax us more and bring up stupid rules to get us to obey when the actual role of a government is to do the will of the people.

Its the same with the climate change crap they keep spouting at us, its just another reason to tax us. Taking less plane rides and driving less powerful cars aint gonna do anything, but putting up car tax helps line the governments pockets.

As Trip says because they can and they will and it'll cost you more on your paycheck for it.
