Nice one mate, so you'd deffo recommend them then? I'd be happier if they were 2GHz but as they are 64bit and dual core its no biggy.

I bet you only failed to try to prove that you really are just human like the rest of us

How is the studying coming along anyway? :)

Ha ha ha yeah we all know you're a cyborg Ken! So so mate, it all makes a lot more sense than when I first started looking after vCenter etc in work. I find the trouble is, I am not sure what they will ask me in the exam. I know the blueprint tells me but have you seen the size of that thing! I am only just getting back into study today and I don't feel half as up for it as I was with my MCSE. I need to buck my ideas up so I'll be hanging around here more, get the hunger for it again :)

Remember the 3 most important words for the VCP exam - blueprint blueprint blueprint...

Use things like Scott Lowe book to get a good understanding of concepts, but personally I would validate what's in the blueprint against the vSphere documentation.

    Best of luck :-)

Hi James, yeah feel your pain as the VMware vcp exam is not the most exciting when it comes to studying for the exam. I did find the blueprint a chore to read and go through as it was heavy going and quite dry when compared to the MCSE exam tracks.

I did find Scott Lowe's mastering vmware book useful but unfortunately the blueprint is king when it comes to preparing for this exam. To suppliment the blueprint the train signal videos were a must as it was on par with the blue print and found the trainer full of energy and drive.

You can do so get cracking and all the best:)

Thanks Scott. I did the Powershell course with GK last year, loved it. I've produced the odd basic PowerCLI script too (nothing special, shut hosts/guests down etc) so I must be due another GK course soon in line with my plans for world domination.

I have been offered the VCP5 "What's changed" (Doubt that's the actual title) course so maybe see you soon mate. I need to pass the VCP4 before I overload my tiny mind with 5.

Well thank flip for that! VCP4 passed! What have I learned? Do not rush into this exam because its an absolute admin slayer! I went on the course with GK. Had a great tutor, Scott (vExpert). Long story short, figured I was good at remembering facts and figures so rushed into it and failed. I can see how I failed thinking the course and a book and the odd white paper would get me through. Experience I feel is the key to passing this one and on my first attempt I didn't have enough. I know everyone says it but the blueprint really has to be followed to the letter. Scott Lowe's Mastering VMware vSphere was the best book for me personally but each to their own.

Ha ha a few people have said that! No way would I even stand a chance mate. I think work are sending all VCPs on the 'whats changed' 2 day course so I'll probably wait for that. You know what this means now tho mate..... 2008 exams on the cards but more importantly I can finally concentrate more on Powershell and PowerCLI! Oh yes, lets have it :)

Does anyone know if I get a licence for Workstation 7 or 8? The site says 7 but hopefully I can get 8, but any would be good.

Thanks very much Scott, all thanks to your training. I can't believe I got that wrong as GK are our TP of choice! Sorry mate, I've changed it now. I think my brain was a bit fried yesterday.

Scott do you know if GK are planning to do a vSphere 5 Troubleshooting course? I have grown to love the command line fixes :)
