OK i borrowed an external hd from a friend to store some tunes on while i was having trouble with my comp etc.

This hd has gone belly us, and doesnt seem to be responding when i set it in slave mode. Whats the chance of getting any of the stuff off it att all, is there a utility i can use to suss whats gone on etc.

Have you tried the drive on another computer? Could the problem you refer to with your computer be part of the problem?

You say external drive yet mention "slave". How does this drive connect to your computer? Is it viewable within Computer management?
