Officially release today I believe – anyone looking at it or are we all in Office 365 now and don’t get a feck about on premise Exchange anymore?

I have a number of customers that are excited by the idea, even one that wants us to provide a short engagement this month on evaluating an upgrade from 2010 (with possible hybrid option).

exciting times for me in any case, I'm an Exchange junkie :D

Despite all the advantages of Office 365 I still get lots of Exchange migration work to do. Currently migrating an Exchange 2003 environment to Exchange 2013. It’s a long process but will be worth it.

Sparky: heh, that's a fun one. Are you doing a hop via 2013 or using a third party tool? How big is the user base if you're allowed to say?

I’m going for a hop migration. Only 75 users so not a disaster – they are on Outlook 2003 as well so need to get them on Exchange 2010 first then I can roll out the new desktop build with Win7\Office 2013.

    The joys :)

Been a while since I've done any Exchange migrations, but I'll be upgrading my Exchange 2013 -> Exchange 2016 deployment in the lab. At some point, might do a few customer engagements, would be fun to catch up with Exchange, it's been a while!

250 mailbox migration next week - went for Exchange 2013 as just not had the time to get up to speed with Exchange 2016 and do a proper POC with the customer with that product.

I'll be swapping Office 2013 for 2016 soon on my desktop as long as it compatibility checks with our RMM and Helpdesk software.
As for Exchange 2016, we get it via our Actionpack license but as we're running 2013 atm I don't have any functional reason to spend the time shifting over to it. We'll end up installing it at a clients somepoint soon I'm sure but most of our small business clients are moving to 365.

No matter how many times I've done it I always hate uninstalling Exchange in a production environment. Uninstalling Exchange 2010 as part of an upgrade to Exchange 2013 just now.

Need to be quick as the IP from the old server needs to go on the new server for about 100 devices that are relaying through that IP - the joys! :)

I desperately need to get up to speed with Office, I'm stuck in 2003/XP land. I've not had any proposals to write on it :(

Just curious why they're not relaying through a DNS record which you could flip over at any point, would save having to juggle IP's like that? (this is making lots of assumptions about you're environment!)

100% agree but there is stack of hosted CCTV monitoring systems (they send email status reports) in there from various companies and no DNS server available in the subnet where they are located.

There now is so when Exchange 2020 is released I won’t get this drama. :)
