Hey guys, question for you, for those who had the opportunity to do an Exchange 2007 CCR to Exchange 2010 DAG migration, what's your experience going from a CCR cluster to a DAG? meaning any special migration tasks? I googled but I haven't found much info on this? Any help would be appreciated..

    not really
Exchange migrations are migrations, not upgrades, you stand up your designed Exchange 2010 environment alongside the 2007 one, and migrate mailboxes across (with obvious interop for the duration)
as the migration is mailbox level there is little concern for the two disparate availability technologies

They are not the most fun migrations either way though, not as bad as 2003 to 2010 though, good luck! :)

Gotcha, thanks Ryan! Will be doing a huge Domain consolidation along with Exchange migration from 2007 to 2010... so trying to gather as much as I can before I start working on a plan.

I think the only tricky bit with CCR will be getting Exchange to SP2 (if you haven't already). It's a bit convoluted, but there's a pretty decent guide here: Upgrading Exchange 2007 CCR To SP2

The other thing to watch out for is if you're migrating between two forests (you didn't say, but I'll throw it out there anyway), you'll need to grab the 'LegacyExchangeDN' attribute from the mailboxes and stamp it as an X500 address on the new one. :biggrin

Thanks for the link Gav, upgrading exchange to sp2 is going to be on my to do list in the coming weeks, I've already set up all the trusts and test a user migration with their mailbox, etc and all is good..
