    Hi and welcome to CF!

Have a look through this part of the forum - lots of guys (including myself) have asked similar questions and had various suggestions in reply!

If this is your first exam in years then it is a bit scary - but if you know your stuff you'll find it won't be so bad when you sit down to actualy take it.

    Harry.

Greetings. To answer your query...study, study, study...and not just with books. Hammer away at an old PC or two. Nothing teaches like experience.

    Welcome to CF! :)

I've just taken the A+ Essentials exam, using the Meyers 6th Edition, Sybex, and Transcender. What materials have you used for your preperation?

You should be ok then mate, I felt the transcenders were a little more difficult then the actual exam, so as long as your doing well on there, you'll be fine!

Good luck for the exam :)

    Hi,

Recently passed my exams. I found Transcender very helpful as long as it's utilised as a study aid and not totally relied upon. In the final weeks I spent my time mostly going over key points and figures from my books, and writing down notes where I had weaknesses.

In my opinion, if you've covered all the objectives and managed some labs/taking a computer apart, your instincts get you through the exams. They certainly did for me.

    Best of luck,

    Rosie

Good luck with the exam. I find that NERVES really can screw up exams for some people. The approach I take is to simply "put things in perspective", i.e. so what if I fail, I can always take it again!!. This tends to calm the nerves and allows you to focus on the questions.

Obviously, the same attitude should not be present while you are actually studying; you probably wouldn't do any work.

I agree whole heartedly that there is nothing like the feeling of going into an exam KNOWING that you have studied as much as you possibly can, and being confident that you DO actually know your stuff.

    GOOD LUCK!!!:biggrin
