    Hi

Can someone please help me understand the new upgrade exam 70-621? (questions I'm sure others will also be interested in knowing)

I currently hold an MCDST, so if I pass the 621....

    1. What new Certification title will I be able to put on my CV, as I understand the title has changed?

    2. Can I use the new certification as an elective for the MCSE 2003? :) (the old MCDST couldn't be used, it was only valid as an elective for the MCSA)

    Thanks for any help! :thumbleft

passing 621 will make you a MCITP Enterprise Support.MS hasnt release details yet as to when the exam will go live and we have no idea how and if they will count towards MCSA/MCSE.

Thanks for your help Zimbo :) much appreciated!

The reason I asked about the MCSE elective is because I was looking at my certification planner on the MCP site today and noticed they have 620 listed as an elective!?

Is a 620 what we get awarded when we pass the 621 upgrade exam?

well i guess then it is! Im sure thats news!

Right lets see.. passing 620 gets you a Technology Specialist in Windows Vista - the lowest ranked out of the new certs - like an MCP today - and as you have shown us an elective for MCSE!
I guess this will now make this exam very appealing to people!

Passing 621 ONLY if you have MCDST gives you (Microsoft IT Professional) Enterprise Support

No, Venice, 70-620 and 621 are different exams. Zim is correct.

I would guess that the 70-620 exam will be the workstation exam of choice when the Longhorn exams come out.

hmm.... this is all getting very confusing..... how many Vista exams are Microsoft planning exactly??

and why is 620 an elective for MCSE but the higher exam 621 not so?

first part of the question we just dont know! there are so many new certs and exams coming out at the moment we just waiting to see when they released as to whats happened... its very hush hush

and it wouldnt make sense to have an upgrade exam as the elective because the upgrade exam assumes you are already an MCDST where as 620 doesnt. Two different skill sets.

Thanks for the clarification Zimbo..... and you're right, it seems Microsoft haven't finished deciding what exams are going to be rolled out

The 621 is described as an update exam but I couldn't see any details of how people qualified as an MITP Enterprise Support if they Didn't have an MCDST?! weird

It said they would have to take 3 exams without an MCDST though

Seems we will just have to sit and wait until they sort themselves out :biggrin

Looking at the objectives, I believe 70-621 is a combination of 70-620 and 70-622. Therefore, a non-MCDST would probably have to take the 70-620 and 70-622 to get the MCITP Enterprise Support cert.

But don't quote me as gospel... Microsoft might decide on something completely different.

According to Microsoft's website the 70-621 is equal to 3 exams, it would consist of the 70-620 (Vista), the 70-622 (Enterprise) and the MCITP Consumer Support Tech part ? (unknown of exam number), to my knowledge.

    See here.

I was just looking at the objectives for each... 620+622 looked a whole lot like 621. Thanks!
