There is not a specific security section on the forums (hint hint) so will place it here for now.

All the certifications can be gained via self-study or a course, I have done a few of them and have already done a write up on my experience of them.

Continuing Professional Education (CPE) means that you must complete certain activities such as other training courses or reading books in the area of security to maintain the certification. It is common in security certification to require this rather then what is common in some areas such as Cisco where the certification expires and you need to retake the exam or a mode advance one.

Below is a list of what I would consider entry level certifications in the security field:

Certification: ISC2 SSCP - The SSCP shows you have the technical skills to implement, monitor and administer IT infrastructure using information security policies and procedures.

    Exam cost: Around £175
Study option: Self-study or a course
Renewable: Yes, costs £40 per year and need to get CPE’s every year to maintain it.

Certification: EXIN Privacy & Data Protection Foundation – This certification covers the main subjects related to the protection of personal data. Candidates benefit from a certification that is designed to impart all the required knowledge to help ensure compliance to the General Data Protection Regulation.

    Exam Cost: Around £200
Study option: Self-study or a course
    Renewable: No for life

Certification: EXIN Information Security Foundation - Is a relevant certification for all professionals who work with confidential information within an IT context. It explains the concept, value, and importance of information security as well as the threats and risks.

    Exam Cost: Around £180
Study option: Self-study or a course
    Renewable: No for life

Certification: Cybersecurity Fundamentals - Cybersecurity Fundamentals offers a certificate in the introductory concepts that frame and define the standards, guidelines and practices of the industry.

    Exam Cost: Around £130
Study option: Self-study or a course
    Renewable: No for life

Certification: CISMP - This certification provides candidates with good knowledge and understanding of the wide range of subject areas that make up information security management. This includes cyber security, risk management, vulnerabilities in social media, legislation, security standards (ISO 27001), business continuity and cloud computing.

    Exam Cost: Around £130
Study option: Self-study or a course
    Renewable: No for life

Certification: CompTIA Security+ - The CompTIA Security+ exam will certify the successful candidate has the knowledge and skills required to install and configure systems to secure applications, networks, and devices; perform threat analysis and respond with appropriate mitigation techniques; participate in risk mitigation activities; and operate with an awareness of applicable policies, laws, and regulations

    Exam Cost: Around £240
Study option: Self-study or a course
Renewable: Yes with CPE and annual fee.

Certification: CompTIA CSA+ - The CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CSA+) certification verifies that successful candidates have the knowledge and skills required to configure and use threat detection tools, perform data analysis and interpret the results to identify vulnerabilities, threats and risks to an organization, with the end goal of securing and protecting applications and systems within an organization.

    Exam Cost: Around £240
Study option: Self-study or a course
Renewable: Yes with CPE and annual fee.

Certification: Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK) – CCSK covers security controls needed for cloud computing.

    Exam Cost: Around £245
Study option: Self-study or a course
Renewable: Yes expires after 3 years.

Certification: CCNA Cyber Ops - The CCNA Cyber Ops certification prepares candidates to begin a career working with associate-level cybersecurity analysts within security operations centers.

    Exam Cost: Around
Study option: Self-study or a course
    Renewable: Yes

Certification: Exam 98-367 Security Fundamentals – Basic security concepts.

    Exam Cost: Around £87
Study option: Self-study or a course
    Renewable: No

    Certifications: A few.

Not sure I would classify the SSCP as entry-level. The SSCP requires one year of work experience (or an approved cybersecurity degree).

In truth, no IT security jobs should be classified as entry-level. One cannot hope to secure what one has never administered.

    Just my opinion.

Never said anything about IT security jobs being entry-level?

CISSP, CISM, CISA requires 5 years experience so 1 year is a lot less and is regarded as more entry level then others.

    Just my opinion.

Your post is entitled "Entry Level Security Certifications". Entry-level security doesn't exist. Entry level = zero experience... not one year of experience.

I think you are getting confused you even said it yourself my post is Entry Level Security Certifications not Entry-level security.

Maybe an example will help you someone takes the entry level CISMP then moves on to the more advanced CISSP then the more specialist CISSP-ISSMP.

Hopefully that has cleared it up for you, but as you are never wrong I doubt it will so will leave it there as I do not want to detract from what the post was made for which is to highlight a few Entry Level Security Certifications people could take.

Just a misunderstanding between two gentlemen.

I think we definitely need a cyber security section on here. It's only going to grow with the way the world is these days

I would agree with the Cyber Security section – I seem to be getting asked for security work\audits etc. every week at work just now.
