    Hi all,

just thought i'd let you know how im getting on in my 1st commercial IT job.
Its ok, bit strange, but thats par for the course having worked in one capacity or another since 1983!!
IT manager is really cool, knows everything, and hes got such a small head.. Hows it all fit in there!
Yesterday we repaired the receptionists pc, she had ICQ on there, he showed me in the server room a prog called Visual Audit Pro, and it brought up where it was installed etc, really interesting.. She denied it and said it was on there when she started! Im saying nothing, im new! Server room is great-bit nippy..
He showed me about VPN's:eek: , yeh ok whatever.. IP addresses... dont think i'll ever take it all in. Today went to 4 company outlets locked down their pc's with group policy, told one guy he's spending too much time on Youtube-on the outlets router log! Im now an IT detecive..He He!

Seems ok, alot to learn, but it all adds to things, MD's a bit of a strange character, and some others, but hey, iv seen it before. Hope you all ok, sorry for going on.

    Kat :biggrin

It takes a while to find your feet in any new situation mate.

You will always land on your feet though! 8)

And I'm sure the nine lives will come in handy too. :biggrin

Good luck in your new endeavour.

Awesome Kev - sounds like you've got a reasonably varied role. Those are definitely the best types of role to have when you're first moving into a pure technical role, cos you learn so much stuff on those type of jobs that will stand you in good stead for your career.

How in the name of God have they let ICQ through the Firewall? Don't tell me the firewall is configured to allow unrestricted access outbound?

Tell the dude to at least block UDP 4000 & TCP 5190!

Sounds like you're having fun and it's always funny to find what people have been looking at... although directors tend to dislike being found out  hehe
