Decided to go for it, and accepted 2 interviews for Thurs...

One is for a well known router company (sounds really exciting) It is a bit more technical, but they offer full training etc and it could be an excellent chance to get a bit more "specialised"...

The other sounds like it would be on the other end of the scale - quite basic to start with, but again a great company and more specialist areas to go into...

Going to both of these will be a fantastic experience whatever happens, as they are both such different companies to my current one!!

I'm really nervous :ohmy...going to research as much on the companies / extra skills required as poss...do you think a suit is a must?? Would really smart trousers and shirt do??

    Cool, good luck :)

As for what to wear, I guess it does depend on both you and the company you're going to. You do not want to look uncomfortable, but you also do not want to look to casual. IMO, a smart pair of trousers and a nice shirt (or a smart skirt and blouse) should do with shoes. I seldom wear suits to interviews and got my last 3 IT positions without them :)

I have always been told, to wear what you would on the job and always have. If it was a factory job on the floor I wore jeans, office I wore slacks. Don't go with a skirt. You don't need to worry about sitting proper while interviewing too. Good luck hun. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya.

Way to go! I wish you the best.
As for clothing, I think you should wear a nice looking, crisp outfit, but, one in where you still feel comfortable. If I for instance have to wear a tie, I start sweating like mad. Not looking confident.

I usually dress one level up from what I would wear on the job. If I were expected to wear a shirt and tie daily, I'd wear a suit on the interview. If I were expected to wear a collar shirt but no tie every day, I'd wear a shirt and tie for the interview. Since I can wear T-shirts and shorts around the office, I interviewed wearing a collar shirt but no tie... it helped that I already knew the people interviewing me, though! ;)

All the best of luck, Lee.

When I went for my interview with a law firm, I knew the job would require smart-casual; I wore a trouser suit on the day - the shirt with cufflinks, so I could resist the impulse I have of constantly rolling up my sleeves.

All the best of CF luck, Leehaa - go for it !! :thumbleft

I agree, go smart - any positions I interviewed for, I was looking for at least business casual, or suit. Anything less suggested to me that the applicant wasn't interested in making an impression on their potential employer (aka me). I would consider the person that had made the effort on appearance if it came to a tie on ability between two applicants.

    IMHO :)
