I want to buy this but it says it is a "bare drive" so does that mean I will also have to buy the cables as well or will they be included.

Like UCM says you'll need the cables and probably have to download the drivers from the manufacturers web site.

It's a good model I've bought one myself after the HP lightscribe version packed in!

Just one thing Rob and that is why go for this one the bare edition is £26.09 when you can go for the retail package for less money £24.10 and get all the stuff plus the bezels??

You usualy don't need the audio cables these days. Most versions of windows now fetch the audio via the data cable.

And most ordinary DVD drives don't need special drivers either.

just post a wanted thread in the sales and swap forum i'm sure people have hundreds of IDE cables lying around they could give you. As for the audio cable, do you still use these as i'm sure only linux and Windows 2000 actually use it ?

Ah - I hadn't actualy looked at the link for the drive, so hadn't realized it was a Lightscribe unit. Yes - he will need the software for that bit.

Most motherboards come with a pile of cables. And the PSUs in the cases usualy have a *lot* of power connectors on them

This is why bare drives don't have such things - it is almost never needed in a new build.

Until you decide what mobo you are going to buy I would not buy any leads. Like harry says most mobo come with leads. Do you know what type of CPU you are buying or already have??
