Hi all, its been a while since a post from me. Simple question for some of you i would guess. I have a MSI 7900 GTX GPU in my pc. I have the latest drivers, but i dont have an overclocking utility. Now the problem is i have windows vista, before i had this i was using forceware V92 or something similar. And ive used Rivatuner final version. But i cannot seem to find an overclocking utility that actually works in windows vista.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Craig :D

MSI 7900 GTX GPU, mate that's a stonking card , but there is no overclocking utilities available at this time that support the new 'G71' core, and the only way to overclock it is via the

    Coolbits registry hack

Guru has loads of reviews on graphic cards and full picture shots of PC cases. :biggrin

Cheeks the amount of posts I see out there that shows you referring these graphic cards questions to NoelG, I can't help wondering if NoelG works for Nvidia???:biggrin

What about Baba? He's a serious overclocker in PC's?

Looking at the thickness, they must take up two PCI slots on the motherboards8)

Sorry guys, didnt reply sooner. Thanks for your replies and all, i thought the nvidia team would have already put a new overclocking tool out to be honest. Its not like vista has not been around for a couple of months.

I have everything else overclocked nicely, its just this damn thing thats left now. My RAM is OC'd, my CPU is OC'd. Just need this to finish it off.

And yes they are big cards for sure, But 8800's are bigger still.

Hey elli5on, I notice in your sig, you have a AMD2 CPU.

I am currently building a base unit for a mate, but he is unsure which way to go on processors. What's AMD2 processors like compared to intel Dual core?

I have only used AMD in the past and only use Intel's at work.
I know my AMD Barton chip was overclocked and used out run most of the P4's CPU.:biggrin

Core2duo all the way mate.... Alot better at the moment. Although an AMD AM2 6000+ beats an E6600 core2duo, And so it should for the price. That said, you can get an FX62 for less than £300 now as well.

Yeh, but maybe he should be playing it at least on 1600x1200 with full AA and AF settings maxed out. Then see what FPS the game is running at. Ill be surprised if its more than 100.

Standard is set to 200 (I believe), But ive overclocked it to 240.... Gets kinda hot under the hood sometimes though.

The AMD quad core's are supposed to be really good, When they get released.

Only time will tell, Bit like a sea saw

No I dont work for nVidia and I wouldnt even if they paid me £2,000,000....I use ATI cards...lol...

But since others have posted their views...there is no need for me to say anything...cos even tho I have two ATI cards in my machine (running in Crossfire mode only in Media Centre for games)...I see no reason to overclock them at present...but then saying that I think I will be upgrading my mobo, CPU, RAM and GPUs again this year...I wana get into the AM2 slots, DDR2 RAMs and X1950XTs from ATI...and add that with an ASUS A8R32-MVP (mine is A8R-MVP), we're talking big time :biggrin but until then I am happy with my dual core I have now...

But I think elli5on has all the answer he needs...nice one peeps :biggrin

Noel Noel Noel, by all means stick with AMD, seens as there isn't anything actually wrong with AM2 dual core CPU's... Cos mine works sweet, no matter whats thrown at it.

But an x1950xt-x??? compare this to an 8800GTX, I think the answers are tilted in one direction. Saying that, ATI's R600 GPU'S are on their way. Nvidia is about to lose its grip on GPU stardom.
