Guys, just finished chapter on DRAM, struggling a bit to understand parity and ECC would appreciate any tips :D

Odd parity, Even Parity or ECC how do u determine which one a system uses ?

When buying memory etc how can u tell if it is parity or non parity memory ?

I'm assuming a system using ECC would need non parity memory?

Apologies for the newbie questions :biggrin

To determine what type a pc uses, would be dependent on the mobo. Easiest way to find out is to read the mobo manual, or use a site like www.crucial.com that even has a scan option to scan ya system
