Hi to everyone out there. Im having trouble downloading ,im on a 512 shared connection and have a wireless network card in my pc. When i first set this up it worked a treat, but now when i download a song or something of similar size, the transfer rate will decrease to the extent that it will download in bytes rather than kilobytes and i cant think for the life of me why.
I did however do a virus scan and had a worm called m boa tho this sorted it out for about a minute but again the problem still persists, half of me thinks i should reformat the whole HD but i think it has to be something simple. If anyone has any ideas please forward them to me and thanks for your time

Could be some process on your computer is sucking up your pipeline so when you try to do a download, there is other traffic also using the connection, slowing you down. Also, wireless does not have a constant transfer rate. If you move away from your access point, the transfer rate decreases dramatically so you won't get the same speeds 50 meters away as you will get 5 meters away. Just a thought.

also downloading from peer to peer networks doesnt ever have a gauranteed throughput, attempt it on a patch from www.microsoft.com or something, see how that pans out

also do spyware scans etc, use an alternate browser (firefox) et al

What ISP you on? I used to be on TalkTalk, and they throttled P2P connections to the point it wasn't worth trying.
