If there's nothing in the posts that can identify the company or people to anyone outside your two companies then no case to answer, imho.
Since they seem to be reading your posts I'll chip in with my support for your position because I have no idea who you work for after about 18 months on this forum.

I'm in a bit of a quandary at work at the moment. Our jobs are being offshored and I'm not allowed to tell anyone, even the Authorised Service Centre engineers. One of them asked me today about a rumour that all our jobs were going to Delhi, I had to say no, you've been misinformed. I omitted to say the reason he was misinformed was because they were going to ***** instead.

 

Hope it goes ok on Monday Ferg, sounds like a real bum rap to me.

 

Add me to your list of supporters. I have no idea where you work, as I don't think you've ever revealed it publicly... and if you have, I certainly don't remember it.

I absolutely love my job, my supervisors, and the owners of the company... but if Boson ever told me that I *had* to stop or start posting a certain way (provided I have still maintained professionalism), I'd simply have to change my username. Although I do represent the company (and have to maintain a level of decorum because of it), I'm here on CF because I want to be here... not because anyone makes me be here.

 

I was thinking about it actually, They have defined the allegation as posting on the forum, which means that they have automatically excluded the email exchange with the consultant. :twisted

But the sensitive part is actually damaging to my reputation, could result in me not being able to work on sensitive (ie MOD) matters in the future, and could possibly be viewed as gross misconduct. I cant simply lie back and take it, I have to fight it.

Crap, I am really sorry to hear that mate, however as I have worked in HR at a previous job I would not post any further discussion of this on an open forum mate as that could be construed as continuing to ignore comapny policy when after being told about the original infraction.

I hope it doesnt come to that however.

I think Simon was just suggesting that the issue might not be best debated in public, in case it comes back to haunt you Fergal - but whatever the situation, it's entirely up to you how you want to deal with it.

There's no need to start getting the hump with each other over it - I'm sure Simon's sentiments were meant in the right way!
