I know that 70-680 counts towards MCITP Enterprise Administrator but I'm confused

I was under the impression that MCITP required the following:

    MCITP: Server Administrator
    Exam 70-640
    Exam 70-642
    Exam 70-646

    But according to this page:

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/windows7-skills.aspx#mctsandmcitp

    It also states:

Exam 70-680 also counts as credit toward the following certifications:

MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician 7 (Exam 70-685)
MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Administrator 7 (Exam 70-686)
    MCITP: Server Administrator
    MCITP: Enterprise Administrator

It's all a bit confusing??

Multiple paths yes, but too many exams me thinks, why we need so many exams for essentially one OS is beyond me...

Of course more exams = more certification revenue.

Not really, it just lists 680 as being one of the options for MCITP EA

So which ones did you sit for SA then?

Sorry, I was not referring to MCITP SA, merely to how I think MS should design their tracks, I think they need less exams and more exam reuse on multiple tracks, something that you were basically hoping for but does not seem to exist in this case...

I sat the MCSA upgrade (which i think is pretty much supposed to be the 640 and the 642) then 680 then the 646. Probably a different route to the one you're likely to take. The 680 wasn't part of the plan but looks like it'll com in handy if I go for the EA

Bah shoulda read the link properly instead of skimming

    Neeeeed coffee

Why don't you guys e-mail Microsoft Learning and find out for sure instead of wandering aimlessly about waiting for a sign from the heavens? ;)
