Currently I have a son aged 3 (nearly 4) I also have another on they way just under 5 months away. I wouldn't mind another after this one but time will tell if that changes lol, I think 2 is a good number to have anyway.

It's a long process just to get to panel, I am not sure I would say it's for everyone, it's a lot of hard work, no real gratitude for doing it (some view you as mercenaries for doing it, others think you're great and they couldn't do it). You put a lot of time and effort in but run the risk of upsetting social workers (you're supposed to be the advocate for the child but that sometimes goes against the wishes of the social worker (not something I have personally experienced but know someone who did, in fact she gave up fostering because of it).

You ideally need to be in a situation where one of you isn't working full time because depending on the age of the child you may be expected to do school runs, you are expected to attend all the LAC (Looked After Child) meetings, take them to various other meetings etc. It's a full time job in itself and doesn't lend well to being second fiddle if you have another job already.

No we didn't want to know. I always thought when you have your first child that you shouldn't find out.

I was like that but it makes things a tad hectic unless you go for neutral colours for clothes, decorations etc.

We knew the sex of both of ours, I didn't really want to but the wife did.

What we didn't do was decide on names, we knew that we wanted to make sure the name fitted with the baby, luckily when we looked at our son it did, with our daughter we had a couple of names chosen and when she was born the names that felt right for her were used.
