I always wanted to be a contract killer for the CIA they never contacted me though:(

I did a career test, I ended up with a list of 5: CID officer, pathologist/forensics, IT support officer, computer hardware engineer. Detective.

I think it was based on the fact I was interested in problem solving and plus I see things happening that other people don't realise.

I'll give you an example: I was driving home one night passed the main nightclub strip in Carlisle, I was driving passed Burger King when I noticed 2 guys each of them an opposite sides of the street. They were both looking around and signalling each other by nods of the head. It was pretty obvious to me that either they were casing somewhere for a robbery or it's was a drug deal going down.

I am more inclined to think it was a deal.

    I love my job. Srsly.

I also did one of those 'Kudos' job tests. It said I should be a funeral director. No no, really.

I am the first line support supervisor (definitely not as s****y as it sounds) for a top 70 law firm.

Despite it being 'first line' the work is challenging and varied. The people I support are intelligent and demanding, and the environment definitely keeps me on my toes.

Long term, no, I do not want to stay in support. This job is certainly a stepping stone for me.

But I do seem to be changing on a weekly basis how I want my career in IT to pan out. The latest carrot I'm considering chasing is IT law... as I work for a law firm, my exposure to 'that kind' of career is high, and it's a specialism I think I could cope with... but it's something I'm only researching at the moment :)

I'm very thankful to play with technology for a living, and I'm very good at dealing with people, but the latter is somewhat draining. Since I work for a small company, I have to do desktop support as well as all other tasks, and that leaves my time disjointed and my projects in disarray. However, a bad day here is better than a good day at my other career (later on in life). Still, I'd really like to concentrate on getting the larger projects done and spend less time dealing with Outlook issues

Something about being a big pile of goo, before a huge, obnoxious ad came up and couldn't be closed.

Of course, the quiz was only 5 items and none of the options really approached how I'd really respond to the stated situation...

Ab-so-lutely. If I didn't enjoy it, I wouldn't be here. After all, I control me; if I don't like the job, I look elsewhere. And I have, in the past.

My job is simply awesome, and the sense of accomplishment is extremely rewarding with a finished product. My co-workers are the best, and I couldn't ask for a better product development team. The commute is long, and although we *could* technically write at home, the "togetherness" and instant, personal availability that we share with each other is invaluable. I really enjoy being able to pass on my product development skill to the newer writers.

I had a great job when I was invited to work for Boson, so I had to have some measure of belief that going to work for Boson was a good idea. In addition, Josh and I were starting our own practice exam company, BrainBeacon, which we were spending many nights and weekends on - to the detriment of our personal lives. In retrospect, both companies would have been worse off if we had stayed separate.

The job has exceeded expectations. Josh and I have been allowed to mold the ExSim product development process based on our experiences (both good and bad) with previous employers. Management is on the same page as we are regarding what we want to create: the highest-quality practice exam products available. And I'm quite proud in what we've been able to achieve in the past year-and-a-half.

    So, yeah, I'm happy. :wub
