I was just updating my CV putting in all the stuff I've done at my new place (so I dont forget about it) and noticed I have about 5 employers on there and Im wondering do I need to add them all? only two are relevant to my current path.. maybe 3 at a push but the other two dont really add value and just takeup space.. my current CV is 3 pages long.

Hi @Juelz, good question. I don't bother putting some of my employers on mine, certainly not bar work that I did after my A'Levels or my brief stint with Tandy (awesome btw). I often think if you have something irrelevant on your CV it just wastes space. If it's unrelated to what you do now I'd be tempted to drop it. If asked you can say it was pre IT career but I was employed doing XYZ at that time. No one will care I is my 2 cents

Personally I don't mate. I've removed everything apart from the dates for any previous jobs I had not relating to IT.

Anything from 1996 to 2010 has been changed to just dates now mate.

@Jaron78 and @JK2447 hmm well I have 5 jobs on there not sure if its worth leaving as Im in my 20s so not worked for that long tbh.. compared to Jim who was servicing typewritters back when they just hit the market who could probs leave this of.

EDIT: sorry Jim dunno whats wrong with me, can litterally turn a funeral into a banter fest.

I did a couple of years at a pizza place in the kitchen but left that off my most recent CV used. If prompted to explain a gap of leaving school to first job I listed (around 2 years) I would gladly explain what I was doing at the time but find it just bloats the CV! If it's related put it on, if not I would personally leave it off. If you want to put it on I would leave it to just company, role and dates.

Only relevant information on my CV... always been told by recruiters to put down the experience that is relevant to the job you want. I have a few different version of my CV, some focused on SA roles, some on Consulting roles, etc... I've done both so it really depends on the job you're applying to.

I suggest you list only those 3 employers ,because they are relevant to your current path ,
If something doesn't matter, it will only affect how the interviewer thinks about your work attitude
