Do/have any members work/worked as an ICT specialist in the RAF?

I know we have a at least a couple of US Army guys on here but has anybody got experience of the RAF?

Is Simon right Kat? I've been considering the RAF for a while now and would love some feedback from someone with experience.

 

I have been out of the RAF a few years now and when I was in it was Admin not IT but from what I have heard from some mates it seems ok (I did consider going back as IT but didnt) but there is a good chance you will be spending alot of time in the sunnier climates dodging bullets and trying not to get your legs blown off by mines.

But on the whole the RAF is a great experience! If you go down that route do all the sports you can (something I do regret not doing) cause there are some great chances in the RAF scuba diving in the great reef's or sky diving in Vegas etc...

You would be supprised, Political Correctness and the general feeling of being undermanded and over stretched are begining to take its toll.... but the Positives still out weigh the Negatives of service life.

 

Not sure how much in house IT will be left before long..... its hugely outsourced already.

 

I notice you're from Northwood so are you serving there? Only asking cos I left there in March this year.

 

I was thinking of joining the RAF at one point doing I.C.T / Officer side of things! Any info wud be great,

 

Not serving there - never served either - have supported the IT up there for about a year (moved up to Whitehall last November)

Where you were you located? Bld/Rm number would identify it not to give too much away
