    Hi,

I'm trying to setup a Cisco 857w with an ADSL connection, but this Cisco malarky is all quite new to me! :blink

I have a dialer interface and an ATM interface configured on the router, and I want to assign a static IP that has been provided by my ISP.

Should I assign the IP to the dialer or ATM interface?

    Thanks,

Most probably your service provider uses PPPoA (PPP over ATM) and the atm is used for just to dial out the connection. The IP address should be negotiated via IPCP (this is part of the PPP process) and you should use "ip address negotiated" on the dialer interface
