Im cringing at the thought alone dude, if i did something on that scale I would have to be picked up off the floor.
Ive never done anything like that thus far so I cant speak from experience but I would say take things steady with your hand, last thing you want to do is rush it and cause further damage which could be un-fixable.
Its good of your company to try and adapt your role to enable you to continue, I've never understood why some companies dont do this or at least try. At the end of the day your more beneficial and cost efficient doing half a job than none of it.

Just wanted to highlight this gem of advice also, this is something a lot of people slip up on, myself included for many years of dentist trips. If your doing anything that your slightly anxious about, needles or anything it is essential to have something to raise your blood sugar levels, this will prevent you getting light headed and fainting, I also recommend closing your eyes, works a treat for me in the dentists chair.

Its not actually that advisable, I saw a lad slice his face open doing that when the neck snapped off instead, not ideal and quite messy, plus it scars.

Tip: Lie on your left arm until it goes dead, then do it. It'll feel like someone else is doing it!

Yeah, sorry to hear about that accident.. what were you cutting up, by the way (apart from your hand)?

Ouch! I am sure it hurt quite a bit. I fortunately never had that problem but I just wanted to say hope you get better soon!

Well for those that would like to I'll post a link to a facebook album after the stitches are out. I cant guarantee I wont be posing a little in some though and the original cut that did the damage is kinda small.
They had to do a fair bit of slicing to get to the end of the tendon so the post surgery pics will be quite nice

I have to force my hand into a clenched fist making sure my little finger tucks under itself . Then slowly let the pressure off and try to hold a fist, then straighten them up. x20 every hour
    Harder than it sounds.
I get different exercises after 6 weeks. I guess these will be for strength

In 2000, I believe it was, my wife moved a coffee table into the middle of the floor, and when the room was dark, I tripped over it, landing on my little finger. Couldn't bend it closed all the way, couldn't straighten it all the way. I gave it a few weeks to heal, and it never got better.

So I decided to have surgery. Doc sliced it open, saw nothing wrong, and sewed it back up. But something must have snapped back into place when he cut it open: after it healed, I got back about 95% of the mobility. I can now close it all the way and straighten it almost all the way - you can't notice it unless you're looking for it.

Anyway, while it was healing, I had a big bandage over two splinted fingers and part of my hand. Got good at typing with 8 fingers. But I don't recall having a problem with IT administration. I do recall having problems keeping it dry in the shower...

I'm getting quite good at one handed typing. Found some good tips online.
They have me in a splint/cage ensemble. Very inconvenient as most of my right hand is functional. Its just in "lockdown":(
Sucks that you would have explorative surgery for them to find zero but clearly it did some good.
I have to wear a bag over it when I bathe and as getting it wet is a big no no. Its gonna smell like a dog soon.

I looked at one handed keyboards but it seems a bit silly to get one just for three months.

The hardest thing for me has been food preparation. My girlfriend works late but has been leaving me meals that just need heating etc.
She's been awesome during this whole thing.
Cant wait to get this splint cage thing off. I'll cook her the greatest meal ever!!!

Then again maybe a restaurant would be safer:oops:

Also I was sat in a park the other day and as my clothing was more convenient than fashionable some crackheads thought I was "one of them" as they tend to pick up silly injurys. Thinking about it I did look a bit hobo but I cant get my hand through most of my clothes so have cut gaps in some old shirts to accommodate. They must have been on a recruitment drive or something. :blink

Awww, they were trying to take care of you when they saw you were hurt. I think that is a great thing considering their own situation. When you get better you should make a bunch of sandwiches and take to them.

I am glad your hand doesn't hurt you all the time skul. I remember that first week or 2 my thumb thumped with every beat of my heart. It like to have drove me mad at times because it just reminded me how much it hurt. :blink

ok back at work now. Bit tricky getting in in the mornings but nice to be back.

I have a nice tiny keyboard to use that makes 1 handed typing alot easier and my work for the next few months is either evaluation or documentation type stuff.

I used to pride myself on rarely using spellchecker but to keep my wpm up it has become my best friend. Keep bumping into people who keep asking about the injury. I might start making stuff up for a giggle:biggrin

Well as I promised here are a few pics
First ones the tiny cut that did it.
Seconds the day after the surgery with it in a splint
Third is yesterday after having the stitches out. It went straight back into a splint after

Hope they dont get me banned
