    Hi all,
Well, i wanted to ask if configuring optic port is same as configuring ethernet or serial port?
If the network has 24 fiber cores, does that mean we have to plug these 24 core into the optic routing switches each into separate ports (so in total 24 ports) or do we use some kind of mux or what? Also how about addressing?
Sorry if my question is not clear.

This will depend on the network layout.

Fibre looks not very different from any other physical link.

When you say '24 cores' do you mean that one physical cable has 24 separate cores? If so (and this seems to be common for a trunk cable) then each fibre will usualy go to a separate port as it is a different link.

Addressing will be a function of the network as a whole.

What are you actualy trying to do?

    Harry.
