All i can find on this utility is something from IBM which relates to Microsoft and something from Microsoft that relates to a third party utility :blink

I know I am putting more and more post's in the last few days but I hope to take the exam soon and am making my way through the objectives and want to clear up on a few things.
    Thanks for your help!

It seems that Configsafe was a bit like system restore but that is all i can see. What Operating systems had it, how did you get to it .......

Here's the link to a free download:

    Here's the ConfigSafe home page:

Seems like this should give you everything you'll need to understand it and work with it. Don't worry about your post count (after all, look at me and Gav), we are here to support folks in their pursuits. My guess is that there won't be any questions on the A+ about this utility but it never hurts to go beyond the test and learn as much as you can. After all, you are really preparing for a career, not just the test.

Thank you for your reply and links :thumbleft

I was a bit confused because I thought Comptia only listed Microsoft utilities on their objectives.

Getting all geared up for the test now! :onthePC

I don't recall if there were any questions about third-party utilities when I took the test (it's been awhile). Was this one listed in one of your books?

No- It isn't listed in any of the books I have but it is listed under Domain 3 of the Objectives.

If it's in the official objectives, then it's fair game. Better know it.

When i sat the os a+ exam, there was a question in relation to restoring windows, configsafe was in amongst the multiple choice answers, but was not the correct one as it was the system restore utility to correct the problem.

ConfigSafe is a third-party shareware utility with the same purpose like System Restore from Windows XP

Here is the configsafe pdf manual if you want to have a look at it.
