Well I never - ya learn something new every day - have NEVER seen it spelt like that before, but it brings up loads of them when you google - is that the way you Americans spell it...or shall I just crawl back into that box??

That's how we old AD&D players spell it. Besides, it looks better than "fairy", which can also have... er, "other connotations".

 

Its also the traditional old english spelling of the word. As for other connotations, in the RAF to "work with the fairys" used to mean working with the electronics guys, so called because the main company that produce the equipment back then was Fairy Electronics! Can't think what you meant Micheal????

See, I knew of the "fairie" spelling, but never the other one (honest)

 

Now see, i've always spelt it "Faerie" as where i come from thats what they were, in Devon and Cornwall they are always Faeries or Pixies.
