CMOS or CCD?

Which one produces higher quality images? Im looking to eventually buy a DSLR and im scouting prices. CMOS cameras are cheaper, which leads me to think their not as good? But it seems alot of canon rebels use them, so its hard to say.

Your thoughts?

A quick google produced this article which I found very useful, and saves me having to type a long reply!

Reading other similar pages it seems to me that the old major differences between them have largely gone away.
