    Hi,

I am hoping someone in here who has successfully passed their CIW Foundations can help with some advice regarding the 'Internet Business Foundation' element. Having completed my course content for the Foundation exam as part of a residential full time course, am more than aware of a shortage in tuition of this part of the subject. I know that the weighting for the exam shows as many questions about this as about Design Foundations, yet we have hardly touched on the business side.

    My question is...

Into what depth do the questions go regarding 'Internet Business Foundations'? And are there any free and legal sources of information available on the internet that may help me prepare for these questions. I am NOT looking for exams or questions, just information to build my knowledge and confidence levels to an appropriate standard.

    Regards,

    Gordon

Well maybe indeed ask someone thats done CIW, I have a friend who did it and I believe they covered the usual, B2B, B2C etc

However I've been in e-business for 5 years and I've never seen any use for this psycho-babble, its not even accurate in most contexts, it seems to exist purely for business types to rant about.

Then theres other stuff like web analytics, business intelligence, e-marketing, SEO etc not sure if this is in the exam.

    Hi again Gordon.

E-commerce is basically what internet biz foundations is about. I wouldn't sweat it to much on that, all i had was one question that i wasn't sure about....like..... "Which is the most popular protocol that provides Authentication and encryption for secure exchanges over the internet"?

Which is of course.... SSL ( secure sockets layer) the little padlock that you see at the bottom of every e-commerce site. I still remember that one!

Most of the answers to the questions on the business side of the exam will be common sense. Personally i would concentrate on the network side of things as i got a bit stumped on them. Like the OSI reference model and knowing the protocols of a network.
Obviously the exam will be different by now, but it's something that i would keep in mind because as you are taking an exam on web design....you may forget that the knowledge of networking is still a part of it!!

I wish you all the luck mate!!
