Me thinks it would have been easier just to give a link to the CIW website, but thanx anyway. :D

Oh, it's there. Right on top.

But even when I'm familiar with a site, I don't want to spend time going from page to page to locate the information I want. And for someone that is not familiar with the site, it can get discouraging.

I've got a list of additional resources for the CIW Cert track that I wanted to post, but if you think it would be easier to start with your ISP's home page and find them yourself, that's OK too.

    Just trying to be helpful,
    Bill

    Thanks Michael,

Not sure just how much CIW traffic this site gets yet, but someone might appreciate having the shortcuts.

I've been associated with the ProProfs forums for a while, Just getting started with some of the others. My interest at the moment is the CIW track. Figured I'd share the resources I've collected with others.

    More coming,
    Bill

Wasn't sure how you expected me to react. I'm here for two reasons, one to learn, and two, to help others if I can.

If the contributions I make to the site seem of no use to you, that's fine. But if it helps even one other person, then the effort I put into it is well worth my time. Besides, I'm just getting warmed up.

That *really* isn't a helpful attitude to take with someone who is only trying to add value to the site... especially a NEW member to the site. :dry

Funny..I thought HE was the one with the attitude. If you read my post previous to the one you are commenting on, you will see that I agreed with his point but made a comment on HIS attitude to which he replied he WAS JUST GETTING WARMED UP. This is why I posted my last comment.

His initial post was simply ALL the links from the CIW website WITHOUT ACTUALY SAYING WHERE THEY WERE FROM. Its like he wants to take credit for the information on the site. He could have simply posted the link.:dry

Well, maybe my intentions here have been misread. I didn't take credit for anything. Wasn't even asking anything in return. I was only offering help where not much has been given. I read a lot of posts about how expensive study material is and how hard it is to come by, but I don't see anyone doing anything about it.

My comment about just getting warmed up simply meant that I felt I have a lot to offer. Sorry about all the discontent, I'll be on my way.

If I miss-read your comment then I am In deed sorry, but your attitude was rotten. Like I said, simply "cutting and pasting" seems absolutely pointless to me, when you simply had to post the link to the site (which anyone already doing CIW should already know about).

There have been many posts in the CIW forum about the cost of study materials, but exactly HOW is your post better than the others. I don't see you address this issue ANYWHERE in your post. As for buying materials from the CIW site, There are plenty of posts about this which I'm sure you will find helpful if you get of your high horse.

Lads, lads, there's no need to argue, been away for a while and thought this would be a good thread to start on.

With regards to brotherbill, and the quote above.....you can be rest assured that me and a few others on here have tried in vain to sort out the "RIP OFF" prices that we have now got to pay out. I have contacted prosoft half a dozen times to try and sort something out and they said that their hands are tied.

The thing is....these training providers out there have realised that anyone can purchase the self study kits and pass the exams....me being one of them. It only cost me four hundred pounds to get to where i am. It would have cost me five thousand pounds if i got sucked into buying from a TP.

It seems alittle odd as to why prosoft have suddenly stopped shipment. But to be honest...you don't necessary need to buy these study kits to learn web design. I have learnt so much more from online tutorials and web design books then i did from the site designer study kit.
Check this site out for flash tuturials: www.learnflash.com

Everyone is in so much of a hurry to get these certs ( me being one of them) that when they do they then realise that you dont need them. You really don't!!!
Those that are already in the industry "WILL", for pay rises and recognition of the skills needed in the works place. Trying to impress a potential employer with certs aint gonna help.
Giving them a well constructed web portfolio "will."
Go to www.webdesignermag.co.uk for good info on the industry itself.

    Later all
