    Hi Guys,

Started a new job a few weeks ago and they currently have me learning to use Citrix (Presentation Server 4 &4.5 Update). Had a look on the Citrix site and I like the look of working towards the CCA. However, I am going to wait a few months and get a bit more familiar with Citrix before considering looking at the exam.

Work have paid for me to have full access to CBT Nuggets and I have noticed Xenapp 5 and 6 on there. Which one would cover the CCA and is there a due date of expiration?

    many thanks,

    Ron

Does anyone know when/if XenApp5 will be discontinued? I'm looking into Citrix certification and currently in two minds if I should pursue XenApp5 for 2008 (which I work with) or XenApp6.5 (which I do not work with nor will I for a long time I would imagine). Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Hi JK,

looking at the link of exam retirements http://www.citrixtraining.com/uploa...raining and Exam Discontinuations_1.24.12.pdf and then CTX122442 - Lifecycle Announcement for Citrix XenApp - Citrix Knowledge Center I think you should be safe studying for it for a while longer.

Going by that XenApp6 will go at the same time as 5 so I might as well carry on studying for 5. I couldn't find that info so thanks mate, that is exactly what I wanted to know.

I always prefer to study something I work with or can at least get in my lab so 5 suits me for now. I suppose there would be implications if I wanted to get an advanced Citrix cert but I'm literally just after the CCA to diversify my CV and give me a structured approach for me to fill in the gaps to my on the job training.

    Cheers, Jim

Yes I guess so, I've started looking at cca's I expect I'll have to get a few for my new job, your right about studying stuff you would with though, no point studying something you dont use on a day to day basis.

I have studied things in the past that I don't see very often but these days certification to me is a framework to help me in the real world. I don't bother certifying in anything that won't help me at work as I'm so busy trying to master what we have never mind what we might get. I'm BAU server support. If I were to move into projects or architecture/engineering I could see the point but for me right now, its got to be of use today. Sorry kind of rambled on there. Cheers Dales, top man
