cheap machines to run win2k8 r2 x64

    desktop or el cheapo sata bassed server ?
    Any good reccomendations ?

    With the requirements of 2008 r2, these two servers are ok to practice on (or run a small network from):

    HP ProLiant ML110 G5 Server @ £179.99 inc vat (free delivery) or
    HP ProLiant ML115 G5 Server @ £214.99 inc vat (free delivery)

    These aren't something that I would deploy in my organisation as a mission critical server, but they are ok none the less :)

    You may want to increase the ram of them.

    I feeling a bit dense here today, but what is so special about these particular servers? I see them mentioned all over the interweb?

    they're so cheap ideal for home labs ,
    I'd never deploy these in a production environment , even if they were maxed out.
    I just feel sorry for them they might fall over and die lol

    4xML110s - 3 running ESX, 1 running Openfiler with a decent RAID card = ESX home setup for under £900 :biggrin
