Changing XP to another language

Guys am I right in thinking that you can't change XP's display language (menu's etc) once it's installed. Need to change from English to French but from what I gather you need to purchase a MUI pack to do this or install XP again.

Also with installing XP is the disk that comes with a PC locked to the language of the country it's bought in if it's an OEM version?

Umm you should just be able to install this and install it. As far as I understand it you can install additional languages at any time.

 

just tried a complete install of XP picking France/French for all the options and XP menu's are still in English. Simon whats that file mate?

 

It's the French MUI file from the Microsoft download site.

 

Thought you had to pay for them, cheers mate downloading now . Managed to wrangle a Swedish, Spanish and French copy of XP from Dell for future use.

 

Simon that file is just XP Service pack 3 in French.
