Some head hunters did ask proof of certs, but they were not the ones to get me an actual job.

I had to fax proof of my certifications to Transcender before they hired me. That's been the only place that required proof of my certs, though.

I was asked about the certifications that were on my CV but I never had to prove to them. However I did give my Cert transcript to HR, so that when my review time comes along they would have my accomplishments on file.

And this is where I say "typical government".

The truth of the matter is, if you have them then just take them.

If they ask you about them, you have them with you.
If they don't ask you about them, at least you have them with you.
If at some point you are lost for something to talk about, you have them with you.
