How much do they want for it? I wouldn't mind sending money towards CF so they can purchase it.

Sounds like the issue is that the current owners don't have the time to run it now. Just buying it won't be an answer unless someone has time to put into it I guess.

If you were to buy it you would have to share the percentage of ownership. Else fights would just mess everything up.

That's what I was thinking. I mean it'll take alot of time researching, then you'd have to look at any legal implications (eg compliance, insurance, etc)...

Absolutely mate. Its a very noble and useful site but if it can't cover its own hosting costs etc..... Sorry to look at it from that point of view but I think you have to if you are considering buying it IMHO.

Actually I would be interested in this but not knowing it's worth it's kinda difficult, especially if (as I suspect) it doesn't produce any revenue.

They attempted to weed through the cert sites offering practice tests and such and determine if they were legit or whether they were braindumps or otherwise swiping copyrighted material. They had a search box that you could type a url in and they would come back with whether it was legit, a braindump, unrated or whatever.

    Cheers for explaining that gosh.

Just one quick question guys, how did those guys know if practice tests were legit or not? Did they have access to the questions via the vendors or the actual dumps themselves?

I imagine the data came through several means.
    1) Exam vendors themselves. I imagine they know pretty much know who the real* braindumpers are, they just can't close them down.
    2) Practice exam vendors. It's also in their interests to protect copyright but they probably can't, or don't have the resources, to prosecute and get the sites closed.
    3) Joe Public.
I assume this is where the time factor comes in. Checking out the info received, reviewing a sites status when asked, keeping on top of new sites and keeping in touch with the legit companies. All that on top of the administration of the site.

    * By real I mean those selling actual exam questions, rather than those illegally reselling practice exam material

Even though I’m not convinced about the value of the site I do like the content and what it stands for.

Is anyone interested? I should be able to provide hosting etc. but we would need a few web guys\gals to keep the technical side covered.

Many between us we can keep the site going, thoughts?

    I like it.

I've already got a business hosting account with Hostgator, nothing special but its there if needed. I could also talk to work and see if they will let me use a server to add one more site to the quarter million they host already :D

As for Technical guys, I'm sure we can muscle together some people from here.
