Anyone got a clue what the N+ passwords are? Tried c_n+ and c_net+ as suggested earlier but no joy, keep getting password incorrect. Tried both the N+ and N+ 2005 :(

    EDIT:

Sod's law, 5 seconds after I posted this I tried c_network+ and guess what? Gonna have a play now and let you know what I think.

Pretty good! I knew I was nowhere near ready for trying for my exams but it does quite a nice job of breaking down your answers and giving you suggestions on areas to work on. Damn good for a free piece of software!

Just took the first A+ exam (got 79%) which is okay I suppose as I haven't studied any A+ material but I did have issues with some of the questions.

Here is an example of one I got wrong, note it only shows the correct answer..

My answer to this poorly written question was *voltage* because the question seemed to be asking what I would use to determine the fault - And *Wattage* is an incorrect phrase when one is discussing Power it is *Power* (heat dissipated) that is measured in Watts.

Power = Volts x Current (watts)

Otherwise it was generally quite good.

The explanation is just way out there :blink :D

This is how I would have written the question.

You have determined that the PSU is faulty -- before you fit the replacement what should you check on the specification of the new PSU.

Answer; Make sure the new PSU has the same or higher power rating - Watts.

    Guy's,

    Two comments here;

Transcender is worth it's money if you can <stretch> to it. I know it is a lot of money; sometimes almost as much as the exam, but wouldn't you rather prepare, swot up on weak areas and then sit?

Also, I found that some of the A+ questions were, yes, what they wanted you to say. Personally, if a computer workked <A OK> in a building last thing at night and didn't in the morning, I would check the PSU. The Comptia questions wanted you to check with the <lecy> supplier (from their website)

    Well Thanks to you all,

Like most 'free' Stuff it seems that CertBlaster has its problems.

But, in general it will help, so you need to check the answers you think you have got right just to make sure.

So, by doing that, it makes you look into the answer to make sure that you are right. Looking into stuff works, some people call it education.

Maybe it is a subtle way to get you thinking about the answer?

Not the ideal way, as most people want the answers there, with the right responses. A critiscism that needs to be pointed out to the people that do it as if you get something wrong, the right explanation would be a big benefit.

:thumbleft Your help, answers and experience are really letting me know what Certblaster is all about. Thanks Pete

All I can say is thank you, keep it coming

wattage is the correct answer, as you are replacing the psu, voltage doesnt matter as there are rails for each voltage setting 5v and 12v

basically there are rough estimates to power consumption for each device and component so therfor you need to replace the psu with a capable 'wattage' psu

gonna dload the A+ and N+ later and give them a whirl... am nowehere near any exam just now but would be nice to see how little i do know lol
