    Well, that's kind of a loaded question. You should have experience using Cisco routers, for one. Do you have the CCNA? Before obtaining the CCNP, you must obtain the CCNA (even if you pass all four CCNP exams).

    If you meet the criteria, how you prepare depends on how you learn best. Many people on these forums prefer the self-study method, but others like to take classes. Regardless, you need experience using Cisco equipment before going after ANY of the Cisco certifications.

    I personally would study.

    Books, CBT's, hands on practice, look on the web, the options are limitless
     
    Certifications: A+, Net+, MCSA Server 2003, 2008, Windows XP & 7 , ITIL V3 Foundation
