For the BCMSN course you will need a switch or two that has L3 capability, say a 3550 or something. Search the 'net, there's lots of advice, although most of it is US-based, where they seem to be able to get second-hand stuff much cheaper than we can over here. For example:

    Monkeyspit,

It really depends on which CCNP exam you're going to study for next. So without further ado, which CCNP exam were you planning to study for?

    Monkyspit,

Check out the CCNP Prep Center. There are equipment list recommendations under the |Exam Study| tab, at the bottom of the page under "Suggested Study Lab Setup."

    Thanks for the replys

From my list of equipment can I make up a CCNP lab?

I looked at the cisco recomended list on the cisco website and they recomened 2811's etc which are extreemly pricey to just practice on..

I'd prefer to use my existing kit if i can and buy extras if I need to

Could somebody that knows what they are talking about spec up a kit including the existing kit I have? So i can crack on and make some additiona purchases :D

    I'd appreciate it greatly.

    Thanks in advance

You keep saying 'CCNP lab' - do you mean just the BSCI lab? Because for the other units, your equipment doesn't come close - and will be extremely pricey (think 3 0's).

Why not explore ways of booking lab time on other provider's equipment?

I need the complete kit to do the ccnp as I'd prefer to study it at home , I dont mind spending another £3500 - £4000 on extra equiptment but I just cannot justify spending almost £1000 a piece for a 2811 router especially if i need 7 of the things.

Just wanted to see what other people run or any suggestions to what I can use that is fairly recent and up to date.

    Right!

I think I'm getting there, what do you think of my CCNP lab for BSCI
    BCMSN
    ONT
    ISCW

    4x 2950's
    1x 3550
    2x 2621 XM's
1x 2620 with 4 port frame relay card
    1x 2611XM

    All have 2x Wic-1T's

I need 1 more router possibly another 2600XM series

Would this be ok for my Lab so far?

    Monkeyspit,

How does that list compare to the recommended equipment list at the CCNP Prep Center?

Monkey, there are some virtual labs on line too. I don't know the links off hand but if you search these cisco boards I know they been posted here. Maybe the cisco general board?

Ok, gotta hit the shower and run. If you can't find them let me know here and I will try to find them for you this evening. Good luck with your studies.
