IT background. I have a BS in Geology, but worked for the University (C.A.T.S) Computing and
Telecommunications Services while attending school. The short of it, I was cheap student labor. I worked
mainly as a "Cable Rat" (token ring, CAT5 copper, some fiber) and Mainframe computer operator. My duties
were stuff like, nightly backups (reel to reel tapes), sorting COBOL printouts for programmers. I'm currently a
Sr.Cartographer during the day, at night a "Homebrew SysAdmin". I've taken the first two semesters of CCNA
course through cisco.netacad.net. Fairly dry material, but still interesting.

    Best,
    Chad

Welcome to CF and best wishes with your CCNA study. I would start looking for a 1st line IT support role as certs help you to get an interview but experience would land you in a job eventually.
