    Hi Guys,

Looking for a bit of advise. I have the oppertunity to do either the CCNA or MCSE - security & messaging course after my MCSE that i am currently doing.

Can anyone help me decide which course to do as i will probably to both courses eventually, But in terms of learning and employability which is better? Cost is not an issue.

What experience do you have that supports either accreditation?

In our place the lads with MCSEs work on the Server Support Team and the lads with CCNA/CCNPs work on our Comms/Network Team. So I guess it depends on what job your aiming for. Our IT security team like you to have a CCNA and CISSP. Do you work in IT at the moment?

I am currently working on a IT helpdesk supporting users of networks and specialist IT systems installed on vehicles. I am looking to move into a security role.

Alot of roles i have looked at (in scotland) ask for Cisco courses so i am leaning towards the CCNA although i really want to do the MCSE - Security & messaging as i think this will go well for me trying to switch from the helpdesk to a security role.

In that case I'd get your MCSE first then get your CCNA. I think if you show you've tailored your MS route to gain the ":Security" an IT Security manager would be happy enough. I'm not sure if the :messaging would make much of a difference but thats speaking purely from how things are done in my company

Thanks jk2447 the messaging just came with the MCSE: Security option i don't really want to do it i just looked at it as an added bonus.

From the feed back i have got from this and my other peers i think CCNA will be the best next course to do :) I can always do the MCSE:Security later on.

    Thanks again
