Cheers. Just working my way through Hex and working out powers of 16, hopefully that's just background knowledge.

Not sure about A+ but in the Microsoft MCP's you have the use of the calculator that comes with windows.

I'm afraid the answer is no!!

You will be strip searched, examined and dipped in bleach prior to your test..ok,I exagerrate, there's no bleach.

The testing centre will not allow you to take much more than your scratchpad, pen and the clothes you're wearing into the test itself.Calculators, including watch/calculators are not allowed to be used during the test. You will be monitored by CCTV during the exam.

    You won't need one anyways.

Definitely no electronic gadgets allowed - including watches. They stopped me taking a bottle of water into the room, very annoying!. I don't know what happens if you need to go to the toilet? Perhaps there's a communal bucket in the corner of the room that I missed (I never was a very good aim!) :)

The place I go for the CompTIA exams is somewhat lax.

I'm allowed a cup of water, and, although I make great show of switching my phone off, they don't demand it or anything else I may be carrying.

    I never understood why...
It always alarms me at the beginning of the exam when they tell me that I can use it if I want.

When I did the A+ at my training provider's campus, they had a locker for all belongings such as phones. They did let us take in a bottle of water though. I'm not why you shouldn't be able to, how can you cheat with a plastic bottle? Even schools are learning that it's conducive to concentration to be able to have a drink of water whenever you need one.
